Blind Boys of Alabama  aus: WORLDS OF MUSIC

Die Gospelgruppe aus Alabama wurde 1939 am "Talladega Institute for the Negro Deaf and Blind" als "The Happyland Singers" gegründet. 1948 wurde ein gemeinsames Konzert mit "Jackson Harmonies" - einer weiteren Gruppe blinder Sänger - als Wettbewerb zwischen den Five "Blind Boys of Alabama" und den Five "Blind Boys of Mississippi" angekündigt. Beide Gruppen übernahmen daraufhin diese Namen. Von 2002 bis 2005 und 2009 gewannen die Blind Boys of Alabama den Grammy für das beste traditionelle Gospelalbum.
