Die US-amerikanische Sängerin hatte 1962 als "Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles" mit "I Sold My Heart to the Junkman" ihren ersten Top-40-Hit. In der Folge trat sie u.a. im Apollo Theatre auf und gelangte mit Titeln wie Danny Boy, Down the Aisle, You’ll Never Walk Alone, Somewhere over the Rainbow sowie "Lady Marmalade" (1975, mit Laura Nyro) in die Charts.
