Blackwell,Chris aus: WORLDS OF MUSIC
Der 1937 in London geborene Rock- und Reggae-Produzent wuchs in Jamaika auf, wo er 1959 Island Records gründete. Mit Laurel Aitkens "Little Sheila" gelang ihm dort ein erster Nummer-1-Hit. In der Folge nahm Blackwell u.a. die Spencer Davis Group, Millie, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Blind Faith, Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull, The Skatalites, Traffic, King Crimson, Free und Roxy Music unter Vertrag. Mit der Produktion von "Catch a Fire" (1973) war Blackwell für den internationalen Durchbruch Bob Marleys mitverantwortlich.
