Beastie Boys  aus: WORLDS OF MUSIC

Die US-Hip-Hop-Formation gründete sich 1981 in New York als Punkband. 1987 erschien das Debütalbum "Licensed To Ill" (u.a. mit "You Gotta Fight For Your Right"). In der langjährigen Besetzung Mike D (Mike Diamond), MCA (Adam Yauch) und Ad Rock (Adam Horovitz) zählten die Beastie Boys zu den wenigen weißen Hip-Hop-Bands.

1995Adam Yaunch (Beastie Boys) organisiert das erste "Tibetian Freedom Concert" in Los Angeles. Neben den Beastie Boys treten Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins und Red Hot Chili Peppers auf.
201426. Mai Im Prozess gegen den Energy-Drink "Monster" bekommen die Beastie Boys 1,7 Millionen US-Dollar zugesprochen. Die Marke hatte vier Songs der Band ohne deren Einwilligung zu Werbezwecken verwendet.
