Rockband aus: WORLDS OF MUSIC

Gruppe von Musikern, die Rockmusik spielt.

Eine Rockband besteht typischerweise aus Sänger/Sängerin, ein oder zwei E-Gitarristen (Leadgitarre/Rhythmusgitarre), einem E-Bassisten und einem Schlagzeuger. Häufig kommen Tasteninstrumente, Bläser und Backgroundgesang hinzu.
Eine spezielle Form der Rockband ist das Powertrio.

1973	31. Dezember Gründung der australischen Rockband AC/DC.
1977	20. Oktober Bei einem Flugzeugabsturz kommen drei Mitglieder der Rockband Lynyrd Skynyrd ums Leben, die anderen überleben schwerverletzt.
1995	Mit dem Album "Morning glory?", das u.a. "Wonderwall" enthält, etablieren sich Oasis als führende britische Rockgruppe.
2001	17. Februar Die Manic Street Preachers treten als erste westliche Rockband in Kuba auf: Der erste Gig ihrer Tournee findet im Karl-Marx-Theatre in Havanna statt.
2005	6. Mai Als erste US-Rockband spielen Audioslave in Havanna. Zum Konzert erscheinen mehr als 50.000 Zuhörer.
2007	9. Februar Die Rockband Oomph! und Marta Jandová gewinnen den "Bundesvision Song Contest 2007" in Berlin überraschend vor Jan Delay.
2018	14. Juni Die US-Rockband Metallica und das Nationale Musik-Institut Afghanistans (ANIM) werden in Stockholm mit dem Polarpreis ausgezeichnet.
