Der New Yorker Saxophonist und Komponist Theodore Walter Rollins prägte ab 1950 zahlreiche Jazz-Stile wie Bebop, Cool Jazz, Hardbop, Free Jazz und Rock Jazz mit seiner Spielweise. Rollins arbeitete u.a. mit Miles Davis, Max Roach, Wynton Marsalis, Clifford Brown und den Rolling Stones (auf "Tatoo you" 1981) zusammen.
